Social Activities

NSS helps the student to grow individually and also as a group. Volunteering for various tasks under NSS activities allows students to become confident, develop leadership skills, and learn about different people from different walks of life


The Youth Red Cross is the most important constituent of Indian Red Cross Society. It is a group volunteers organized at the initial stages for students between 18 and 25 years of age within the colleges. A qualified Teaching Faculty is recognized as the leader and he is called the Programme Officer and,under his guidance, the students are trained and encouraged to manage the affairs of the group, electing their own office-bearers.

  • To reduce new HIV infection among youth by raising their risk perception through awareness programme.
  • To induce among youth the spirit to help and support people living with HIV/AIDS thereby reducing stigma and discrimination.
  • To motivate youth and build their capacity as peer educators and change agents by developing their skill on Leadership, negotiation and team building.
  • To promote voluntary non-remunerated blood donation among youth.

Red Ribbon Symbol

The Red Ribbon is the international symbol of HIV and AIDS awareness. It stands for:

  • Care and Concern
  • Hope
  • Support

The Red Ribbon offers symbolic support for those living with HIV, for the continuing education of those not infected, for maximum efforts to find effective treatments, cures or vaccines, and for those who have lost friends, family members or loved ones to AIDS.
